Welcome to Buckman Elementary School!
We're so excited to welcome our new kindergarten students for the 2026-2027 school year! The first official day of school for our kindergarteners is Monday, August 31st. But before then, we have some fun opportunities for your student to get to know Buckman and be fully prepared for the big first day.

LEAP Into Kinder (August 10th to August 13th): This is a summer program to help you and your child have a great start to the school year by practicing school routines and connecting with other families. Meet Your Teachers and Ice Cream Social (August 24th): Please save the date for our Meet Your Teacher Ice Cream Social on August 24, from 2:45 pm – 3:45 pm, on the lower field. Kindergarten class assignments will not be finalized yet, but you'll have the chance to meet our kindergarten team ahead of the first day of school. We look forward to kicking off the year together!

Registration for 2026-27 Kindergarten will open February 28, 2026!

You can register online if ALL of the following apply:

Your child is NEW to PPS
Your students did NOT attend a PPS Pre-K locations: Boise-Eliot/Humboldt, Clarendon, Creston Annex, Dr. MLK Jr, Faubion, Grout, Jason Lee, Kelly, Marysville, Lent, Rosa Parks, Sacajawea, Sitton, Whitman, Woodlawn
Your student does NOT have an IFSP and did NOT receive services from Multnomah Early Childhood Program (MECP)
You are enrolling your child in your neighborhood school and NOT a CBO/Charter
You have an email address and access to a computer
